Warren Buffett - Warren Buffett Books and Book Recommendations
Warren Buffett's Book RecommendationsWarren Buffett takes all his own investing decisions and as far as I know has never devised a precise form of system trading , other than buy and hold, he does however recommend one or two books. Which book does he think is the most representative of his thinking ?
UPDATE : Warren Buffett is a great admirer of Howard Marks, to the extent that he reads his e-mails ! And he also suggested he should write a book which Mr Marks duly did - The Most Important Thing - which you can get more detail on here - The Most Important Thing: Uncommon Sense for the Thoughtful Investor (Columbia Business School Publishing)
In addition to Howard Marks' book Warren Buffett does make some other book recommendations - not many, so they are a very select group and if you've got one of those fancy Kindles you could probably stick them all on there and not notice the difference!
So here's the list of books recommended by the Oracle of Omaha
The Essays of Warren Buffett : Lessons for Corporate America edited by Larry Cunningham ("The most representative book on my thinking is what Larry Cunningham put together.")
Which books does Warren Buffett recommend on investing ?
The Intelligent Investor, by Ben Graham ("the most important investment book, especially chapters 8 and 20") (see the sidebar)
Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits and Other Writings by Phil Fisher ("I highly recommend his books, especially the early ones")
John Bogle on Investing (Great Ideas in Finance)
("Any investor who owns or is thinking of owning shares in a fund should read this book cover to cover.")
The following books are not specifically about investing
Sam Walton, Made in America: My Story by Sam Walton | Summary & Study Guide (a book recommended by Warren Buffet back in 2003)
Smartest Guys in the Room: The Amazing Rise and Scandalous Fall of Enron by Bethany McLean (recommended by Buffett in his annual letter in 2003)
Poor Charlie's Almanack: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger, Expanded Third Edition
Katharine Graham's autobiography ("you'll learn a lot")
