It is that time of year again when you get the chance to bid for the right to have lunch with Warren Buffett and get access to his insights on stock market investing. You will also be able to take along up to 7 of your buddies, so split 8 ways the tab probably won't be too great, just $250,000 each if last year's winning bid is anything to goby.
In 2008 the winning bid came from Mr Zhao Danyang from Pureheart China Growth Investment Fund, who put up $2.1 million for the chance to have lunch with Warren Buffett. He hasn't actually had that lunch yet but will be soon, he said "I am looking forward to enjoying lunch with Warren Buffett. This is truly the chance of a lifetime."
This year people expect the bidding to be a bit lower, due to the economic crisis, personally I'm not so sure, last year wasn't too healthy either and in difficult times talking to Warren Buffett might be even more useful than normal.
Warren Buffett is of course a legendary investor and the second richest man in the world, but he has also become a great philanthropist, announcing that he will be leaving most of his $40 billion fortune to charity.
This year the winner of the auction and his seven buddies will have lunch with Warren Buffett in New York at the Smith and Wollensky restaurant in New York, which has contributed $10,000 to the Glide Foundation.
Bidding started online at $25,000 on Sunday. All proceeds will be transferred to the Glide Foundation, a charity which helps the poor and homeless in San Francisco.
The auction will end at 10 p.m. EDT on Friday evening - so you can even watch the live bidding online at you know where famous online auction site.
There are 4 bidders so far and the bidding is up to $71,100 - if you want to bid you need to be pre-approved, so don't leave it too late.
If you think you may not be able to afford a steak with Warren Buffett then you can catch him on CNBC tomorrow (Wednesday June 24) where he is scheduled to give a live interview June 24 with Becky Quick, at 11:45a ET on "The Call".
